About Mrs. Nameika
Hello and welcome to my classroom. I am a special education teacher and learning specialist/Science co-teacher at Nipmuc Regional High School. I recently graduated from Bay Path University with my Masters of Science in Moderate Special Needs. I have a 6 year old daughter who is in first grade this year, my husband is a high school English teacher, we have an old man tiger cat named Ozy and a Labrador mix year and a half old dog named Freya.
In Academic Lab we will work together to learn more effective study skills, organizational techniques, time management skills, and other executive functioning skills. I may work with students on particular areas of weakness based on individual need. The Academic Lab is also a resource room for long term assignments and projects and I will make sure the students have all of the needed supplies to complete those.
In English 11 class we will read novels which align with other grade level English course content with support from me. Our course focuses heavily on the remediation of written expression and reading comprehension skills, along with vocabulary development, grammar identification and application, elements of literature, and independent reading. Instruction, supports, and assessment are designed with an individual student approach. Students will be developing writing skills through constructing narrative and argumentative essays throughout the year.
I'm looking forward to the school year and getting to know my students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
